Here are a selection of departments that make up Monarch:
The financial accountants within Monarch are responsible for providing accurate monthly financial data to internal and external stakeholders.
We achieve this through a robust review of all transactions in our ledgers each month, the coding of invoices where purchase orders are not required and complying with relevant accounting standards.
The team work closely with Cost Centre owners and Commercial Finance to explain variances in the actual results versus budgeted.
On an annual basis we prepare the company’s financial statements and tax computation in accordance with the current legislations and the company’s accounting policies.
We are in an enviable position as we are privileged to see the “whole picture" I.e. how each part of the company’s transaction are interlinked. We make a big contribution to the business through spotting weaknesses in current processes and changing these to meet the company’s needs.
The team has a wide range of knowledge and experiences which is shared across the group, we are fun to be around, passionate about our work and always support each other when the going gets tough.
Commercial & Operational Finance
The commercial and operational finance teams are responsible for supporting the business with decision support, understanding performance, added value reporting, and short and long range strategic planning (forecast, budget, three year plan).
A key purpose of the team is to provide robust challenge and scrutiny of commercial proposals to ensure that the end outcome is robust and reasonable.
The team provides expert analytical skills in helping the business reach decisions and produces a range of reporting on a regular basis to support this.
The team is very proactive and is always looking for new ways to present and use information that adds value to the decision process. The commercial and operational finance team is a very enjoyable and dynamic part of the business to work in and offers lots of interesting challenges for all.
Financial Shared Services
The Financial Shared Services Function is responsible for processing all transactional elements of finance. The team includes Receivables, Payables, Cash and Fraud.
The Receivables team within Monarch is responsible for ensuring that the invoiced revenue with credit terms is received within its contractual terms, no flight ever operates without payment. The team also reconciles cash received from credit card acquirers, airports and other payment providers for customer bookings back to the booking system.
The Payables team within Monarch is responsible for ensuring that suppliers are paid in a timely manner. The team is involved in processing thousands of invoices, ensuring that they are appropriately approved and making payment to the suppliers. Within the team, a number of team members are responsible for approving invoiced amounts back to contracts and flight operational records.
The cash team are responsible for ensuring that any payments raised are made on the appropriate date after receiving relevant approvals. The team will also reconcile all bank accounts to the general ledger and work closely with Treasury in aiding the analysis of actual cash flow versus forecast.
The fraud team analyse bookings made by customers to identify potential fraudulent transactions. The team then work closely with the airports to determine the payment is genuine before a passenger travels, and with credit card acquirers to try to recover any fraudulent transactions.
The team is proactive and has proven to be able to adapt to the needs of the business in a professional manner.
Revenue & Network
The Core RM team comprises of 10 people, responsible for revenue management of flights and achieving the Core revenue target which accounts for 75% of the airlines total revenue.
We work closely with the Retail Team to align our core and retail pricing strategies, with Network Development to optimise our schedules and with Digital & Marketing teams to ensure we effectively promote and sell our price products.
The main responsibility of the Team is to achieve core revenue targets by delivering effective revenue management and pricing strategies, taking daily pricing decisions in an extremely competitive environment.
The Payroll Team
The Payroll team within Monarch is responsible for ensuring employees across the group companies receive their pay at the right time using Oracle HCMS system whilst complying with all statutory HMRC regulations.
This is achieved through a number different mechanisms such as employee self-service, we also process the data entered by HRSS team and data received from other 3rd party software applications including information from the HMRC via a number of interfaces.
Payroll is and has always been a moving target, it has the habit of throwing something new and different up to challenge you which keeps you on your toes so it can never be classed as boring!
Here at Monarch, we have a dedicated and highly professional payroll team who have lots of experience and knowledge and they take great pride in doing their jobs in an efficient and effective manner to provide you with the best possible customer service at all times.
This department advises Monarch on managing risk and compliance whilst maximising commercial opportunity and strategy. We don’t sit on the fence, we give pragmatic direct advice that makes a difference, on a range of topics, including; aviation, banking and finance, commercial, competition, corporate, data protection, employment law, intellectual property, procurement and regulatory.
This is a fast paced commercial environment, we work very closely as a team and with the wider business; we are proud to be seen as key business advisers.
Within the legal team sits the claims team, this is a team of three. Initially the team were only handling claims relating to EU261, delayed flight compensation however the team and its responsibilities has grown and they now deal with personal injury claims, employee liability claims and aircraft damage insurance claims.
To excel in this team you will need to be resilient, commercially aware, self-motivated and tenacious.
The IT team within Monarch is a wide and varied Department covering Web Development, Project Management Office, Oracle ERP Support and Application and Infrastructure Support. We are responsible for all IT systems, from the website that you book your tickets or holiday, to the systems that control aircraft movements.
We provide support, advice and guidance to the business on all aspects of IT. Our Project Management office provide support for all business projects, from introducing the new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, implementing new IT systems and changing business processes.
We have a diverse team who enjoy working in a relaxed and fun environment.
The Recruitment Team
The Recruitment team within Monarch is responsible for sourcing the highest quality candidates; fairly and cost effectively, with the right capabilities and experience, and at the right time.
We achieve this through a fair, robust and efficient recruitment and selection process, which complies with current legislation and best practice and is driven by the needs of the business.
We are in an enviable position as we have the opportunity to recruit for all businesses within the group, this offers the team plenty of variety in the people that they recruit.
The team is passionate about finding the right candidates for the business, we work in a supportive, fun and lively HR environment.
Property & Facilities
The Property & Facilities team manage all of Monarch's Property & Facilities & Security needs across our diverse and challenging estate. Our estate comprises of aircraft hangars, engine bays, workshops, logistics handling, training suites, office blocks and airport ticket desks within the UK and across the world which all come with a variety of specific requirements and individual challenges.
Our Property & Facilities team manage the entire group function from sourcing property and managing the lease, purchase, rents, rates, utilities, new build, fit out and refurbishment through to all planned and reactive facilities requests via our state of the art online FM system. Our properties span challenging boundaries on airport sites which include airside and overseas accommodation.
Our Security team manage our safety, airside control, aircraft searching and security across all UK sites and that of our third party FBO clients, all this within the strict regulatory guidelines.
We work in a constantly evolving arena and no day is the same as we flex to accommodate the needs of our diverse business, delivering the support to our core group functions in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.

The Customer Services Team is responsible for delivering the highest standard of pre and post flight service through whichever channel our customers choose to contact us.
This includes, telephone, email, social media and letters. Our expert service advisers are multi-skilled and empowered to enable them to respond quickly and effectively to customer enquiries and resolve issues on a customer’s first contact with us.
This includes Pre and Post flight customer questions, baggage enquiries, claims, Tour Operator and Travel sales and service and our Vantage frequent flyer loyalty scheme.
In a typical year we will service over a million customer contacts which keeps us very busy, however working in a dynamic and exciting industry keeps us all motivated especially as we work with some excellent people and many of our customers compliment us on the service we provide.
We are responsible for all email & postal marketing campaigns and eCRM activities utilising the Monarch customer database. We aim to maximise direct marketing email & ancillary revenues, be consistent with marketing messages alongside other Monarch media and to maintain and improve the customer journey throughout various direct marketing touch points. Making service emails consistent with our brand guidelines while checking for relevancy and quality is also important.
Overseas marketing is another key focus as we target the Spanish, Italian, German, French and Catalan markets. Not only do we use direct marketing but online display, price comparison sites, retargeting and offline media such as out of home and press adverts. Increasing route and brand awareness as well as web traffic and flight bookings is a major focus for the overseas market.”
Within this team we look after all aspects of Monarch’s marketing including; online marketing (display, pay per click, SEO, affiliates and comparison sites), offline marketing (press, radio, out of home, TV and sponsorship) and Monarch’s branding and design. The team also work closely with the web development team to deliver and manage Monarch’s digital strategy.
The team is very empowered, they gets lots of autonomy and responsibility, we encourage entrapenerialship to try the latest technologies, ideas and techniques in order to grow sales and improve our digital customer experience.
The marketing department plays a vital role in the company, it leads the company's other departments in developing, producing, and servicing the products and services to existing and new customers. The main role of the marketing team is to make Monarch’s products and services look attractive enough to purchase.
The marketing team develops the advertising campaigns which are promoted through various different communications channels including press, outdoor, email, social, UK/overseas airports and through our 3rd party ancillary partners.
The team develops all creative for the offline and online advertising campaigns, manages the brand guidelines and also produces creative for the various different departments across the company.
