Operations Control & Crewing

The Crewing Team has overall responsibility for determining which one of our ‘World Host’ trained Air crew is best placed to operate each planned flight, thus ensuring the crew requirements for Monarch Airlines operation is met, and we contribute to a safe and efficient on time departure for our Customers.

There are a number of functions that combine in delivering the crew to the operation and these can be loosely divided in ‘Pre Planning’ and ‘Day of Operation’, with the latter role focused on the 24 hour operation and live management of the 1500+ crew. We invest heavily in technology and our Sabre Airline Solutions software is the best operational management system on the market, enabling us to deliver the most efficient, Customer focussed resource deliver from the plan through to the day of operation.

We are passionate about finding the right people to join our passionate team and we enter any selection process with an open mind. Previous experience is not essential as we have a number of entry level positions to aid in starting a career in Crewing, but the roles often suit candidates who have a meticulous but logical approach to their work and thrive in an environment that is sometimes pressured and requires problem solving and the ability to think ‘outside the box'.

Flight Operations

The Operations Department at Monarch Airlines is responsible for delivering a safe, efficient and on time delivery of the planned flying programme. This entails ensuring we have aircraft, flight crew, flight plan and ground services at the right time to deliver the best service for our Customers.

The teams within the Operations and Flight Operations departments consist broadly Crewing – split between long range Establishment Planning, through Roster construction and ultimately through to efficient delivery of resource to support the ‘on the day operation’; Systems – maximising the investment made in the Sabre systems to ensure optimal departmental efficiency, balancing the expertise of the professionals employed within the team with the significant capabilities of the systems; Flight Operations responsible for ensuring we are compliant and able to operate to the highest safety standards and the Integrated Operation Centre – the ‘beating heart’ of the Airline, which includes our co-located Ops Control team, Crew Control team and Duty Maintenance team – all 100% focussed on delivering the planned flying programme, and on the occasions where there is disruption to the programme, this team manage and limit the disruption to our Customers ensuring the best decisions are made in the wider interests of our Customers.

The Department offers a wide range of roles across a number of disciplines and the focus is on being part of a team that works cohesively and allows talent to develop and flourish. We’re a passionate group of people that enjoy what we do, despite the inevitable challenges and pressure that face us on a regular basis, and we work to an ethos of continually looking for ways to improve – be that both as individuals or in terms of the wider team.

Working as cabin crew is not so much a job as a way of life. We recruit and train our cabin crew to the highest standards, and this is recognised both on-board by our customers and throughout the industry. It is not easy to become cabin crew, however the rewards are knowing that you are part of a winning team that is committed to doing the best for our customers.
