Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeships

We’ve been involved with apprentice training for over 45 years. With all of this experience we still continue to uphold our reputation for producing high calibre engineers for the industry. The four year scheme, which began in 1971, has produced over 750 high calibre engineers for both MAEL and the wider aviation industry.

The four year scheme will be based on the knowledge and practical requirements of the NEW National Trailblazer apprenticeship standards and specifically those of the EASA Licence Category A pathway.

Our mission is to deliver the new standards to ensure coherent, robust, stretching and quality assured programme of technical skills and knowledge development within the aircraft and component maintenance field.

Successful applicants will be initially based at our Engineering Training Academy at London Luton Airport where they will commence theoretical and practical training towards completion of the level 2 foundation phase.

Upon achievement of the level 2 phase, apprentices will then relocate to one of MAEL's aircraft maintenance or workshop facilities where they will progress onto the level 3 Development phase. This phase will be carried out in our aircraft maintenance or workshop facility which will provide the applicants with skills via practical 'On-Job' training.

Whilst this apprenticeship is mainly practical based, applicants will also receive training in order to obtain the required levels of technical knowledge and understanding. This will be achieved by way of studying the modules of the EASA Part 66 'A' basic licence category.
